Finished poster...maybe

Final poster design for an upcoming stage show, approval pending. Happy with the illustration and title logo, not so much with the text on the right...Ah sure!

'Inception' has nothing on my dreams

I know Inception is technically the wrong Christopher Nolan movie to reference here, but I don't care. Anyway, here's a crossover to top crossovers, except probably Scooby Doo Meets Phyllis Diller.

All crossover excitement aside, it actually raises the topic of the divergence from the fantasy of Tim Burton's Batman (and by extension, Joel Schumacher's, but let's pretend that didn't happen, even if it did give the world George Clooney in a silver-tipped, faux-nippled Batsuit) to the technically-explainable-down-to-the-last-detail-ness of Christopher Nolan's Batman, who looks more like an expensive military frivolity than a comic-book hero, which I don't mind as much as Katie Holmes but imagine I could only put up with for one more film. But really, that's just me backpedaling.

Summer Filler

I'm very mindful that as I cram what remains of the holidays with Tomb Raider and Pokémon, all the while there's a blog to be updated. The answer? Yet more old stuff pulled from my college application portfolio. What follows is a storyboard version of a "pitch" for a web-based cartoon partly-based on what my co-workers and I went through when our store went into administration in 2008.

The main characters would have been two kids and an ancient man.

I didn't realise it at the time, but it appears I accidentally ripped off Gary Baseman somewhat. Oh well. (Click 'Read more' for storyboard)

An oldie

This is from 2006. It was made with actual paint! On paper!

It's a doodle I made in school when I was supposed to be painting a monkey not wearing a space-suit. I like this one better.

Mother, She Wrote #1

Everyone be nice and pop over to the new webcomic I'm illustrating, Mother, She Wrote, written by the hilarious and titular She, Ellen Whelan.

Card

Proof that I can work quickly! I designed this last night in Eddie Rocket's for a birthday card about 30 minutes before I needed to hand it over.

Here's a crappy phone picture of the sketch on the finished card.

Poster. Another one.

A poster for an upcoming variety show. The gaps in the lower corners are for the logos of the production companies involved.

I Didn't Do This One:

From last September. As you can see, he probably wasn't expecting to sign anything at a screening of Up.

New Main Character

Visual development.

Old Main Character

Old as in not young and old as in he's no longer the main character in my end-of-year film. Or in it at all.

Stranger on a Train

Life drawing of a blissfully unaware lady on a train. She was literally 2 feet away from me.

Never again.

John Canemaker Homework!

Character designs, colour story sketches and storyboard panels done for some of John Canemaker's classes in IADT last November...

These were part of John's week of storyboarding lectures/classes in which students were asked to develop one of a few short stories - this was based on The Moth and the Star by James Thurber.

Yet More Book Project

Character designs for the illustration project.

More Book Project
